All members of social fraternities and sororities learn that the origin of today's organizations is Phi Beta Kappa, now an honorary scholastic fraternity. It was conceived as a social organization in 1776. Phi Beta Kappa elects over 15,000 new members a year from 262 chapters across the United States. Some of the Kappas, who participate or advise the US Government: Robert Zoellick, Jay C Davis (ANSER/ Institute of Homeland Security) and Condoleeza Rice. http://www.pbk.org/about.htm
